Editorial standards
Collectors make real decisions — and spend real money — based on what they read. These are the standards every guide and story on The Grail Hunt is held to.
Accuracy first
We only state specific facts — dates, mintages, model numbers, marks — when they are well documented. Where sources disagree or a popular legend may not be true, we say so rather than picking the more exciting version. We do not invent quotes, anecdotes or people, and our stories are nonfiction.
No price predictions
Values change constantly. Our guides explain what drives value — condition, rarity, originality, grading and provenance — and show you how to research recent sold prices yourself. We never tell you what an item will be worth in the future, and nothing on this site is investment advice.
Practical and independent
Guides focus on what helps you buy well: how fakes and alterations are made, which photos to ask a seller for, and when to insist on professional authentication. Sellers cannot pay to be featured, and no brand reviews or approves our coverage.
How affiliate links work here
We earn commissions through the eBay Partner Network when readers buy through our links. Listings are pulled automatically from eBay based on each topic, and commissions never decide what we recommend or how we assess an item. Read our full affiliate disclosure.
Images
Photos are licensed for reuse (public domain or Creative Commons) and credited on every page and on our image credits page. Each guide and story has its own photo, and captions describe exactly what is shown.
